Get More Digital Media Updates from Parse.ly

December 2015 Parse.ly Product Update

parse.ly changelog 10-2016

Santa has elves, we have engineers. As the holiday season begins, here’s a rundown of our gifts to you: new features you’ll find in the Parse.ly dashboard.

Significant Referrer Sources in the Overview Screen

Now, if a post has a significant external referrer that is driving more than 15 percent of its traffic on the current day, Parse.ly will add a label indicating the referral source. For example, the post “Survey Says: Monetization Will Be Digital Media’s Biggest Challenge in 2016” from Parse.ly’s blog is displaying Statista.com as a significant referrer.

Analytics for Homepages, Category Pages, and Section Pages

You can now see the same analytics for your index or section pages (typically homepages or category pages) in the dashboard. We hide them by default, but you may select the “Post Type” filter, then “All Pages” or “Non-post Pages” to surface them.

You can click into any of these pages and see where traffic came from and went to — helping you to understand readers’ full journey on your site more fully.

This filter is also available in report format. For example, if you wanted to see which section pages received the most traffic in the previous week, pull this report in your “top listings.”

Report on More Metrics

Speaking of reports, you can now access all of your metrics in the reporting suite. Previously, some of these were only available in dashboard views.

Note: You will only see the metrics that your account has available, based on your plan. To log in to Parse.ly and see what features you have available, click here.

We expect all SEO and social media managers to celebrate accordingly when they receive their social referrers or search referrers reports!

One-Click Report Scheduling

You know that feeling when you’ve found the perfect dashboard view? You don’t want it to go away, and now it doesn’t have to. Create a report from any dashboard view by clicking the “Schedule” button.

Publish Date Filter

Though we’ve had a “published within” selection available, we’ve expanded the option to let you select stories that were published within a larger range than just the days you’d like to look at metrics.

For example, you’d like to see how stories written anytime in the last month have performed this week. No problem — select this week in the dashboard, and then include publish dates starting 30 days prior.

What’s coming up?

We have some exciting plans for 2016. Expect a couple of announcements in January about some new features that we’ve been working on for a while, and expect to see more updates like these as we continue to make Parse.ly the easiest to use and most powerful analytics option for anyone looking to understand their audience!
